The oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, the royal residence of Windsor Castle dominates the stunning skyline in Windsor, Berkshire.



Trip Description

Established in the the 11th Century by William the Conqueror, it has been remodelled by successive kings & queens. The castle was and still is used regularly for ceremonial/state occasions.

Highlights: 
State Apartments - takes you on a journey of over 1000 years of royal history.  Many of the rooms were built for Charles II. Fine works of art include paintings by Rubens, Van Dyck and Holbein, Sevres porcelain, English and French furniture.
St George's Chapel - one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England. Spiritual home of the Order of the Garter and final resting place for eleven monarchs including Henry VIII, Charles I and Queen Elizabeth II.
St Mary's Dolls'house - at over 100 years old, the world's most famous dolls'house with everything in minature, electric lighting, running water and working lifts.
