Trip Description

The city is known for its extensive Roman walls, made of local red sandstone they can be walked all the way round. In the old city, the Rows is a shopping district distinguished by its 2-level covered arcades and Tudor-style half-timber buildings.

In the heart of the city is a 1000 year old cathedral and a Roman amphitheatre, with ongoing excavations, lies just outside the old city walls.
