Stow on the Wold, surrounded by town houses, independent shops, antique centres and cafes. Built in mellow local stone with medieval market stocks at one end, a ancient market cross at the other and St Edwards Hall standing in the centre. Rodmarton Manor is a unique Arts and Crafts Manor House containing furniture, with a early 20th-century garden. Designed for the Biddulph family by Ernest Barnsley, and brother Sidney who was principle furniture maker. Building work started in 1909, completed in 1929. The outbreak of WW1 delayed the build.
Original interiors, furniture, ceramics, ironwork and textiles, made in the early 20th-century by followers of the Cotswold Arts and Crafts movement. The original 8 acre garden layout has a terrace, topiary, herbaceous borders and walled garden.
Price includes guided tour, gardens, tea or coffee and biscuits. There are no other catering facilities open on our visit.
